When creating a virtual tour with WPVR, you may want to control how zoomed-in or zoomed-out the view is when a scene loads or how much users can zoom in/out.
WPVR Pro allows you to customize zoom settings at two levels:
- For the entire tour
- For each scene individually
This guide will walk you through both options. Let’s get started.
Set Custom Zoom Settings For The Entire Virtual Tour #
If you want to apply the same zoom settings across all scenes in a tour, you can use the global zoom options available in the tour setting.
Steps: #
- Navigate to WPVR > All Tours and edit an existing tour (or create a new one).
- Go to Settings > Advanced Controls
- Scroll down to the Set Zoom Preferences section and Enable it.
- Now You can Set your preferred Default Zoom, Max Zoom, and Min Zoom.
** These global settings will apply to all scenes unless you override them with scene-level zoom settings.
After enabling the Set Zoom Preferences option, Three new options will appear:
- Default Zoom.
- Max Zoom.
- Min Zoom.
1. Set Default Zoom For The Entire Tour #
When a viewer is loading your tour, it will load with the default zoom value that you’ve set up.
You can set this value from 50 to 120.
50 is the most zoomed in view and 120 is the most zoomed out view.
Suppose, you want to load the tour with maximum zoomed out view, then you have to set it as 120.
ii. Set Zoom Out Limit For The Entire Tour #
To set a zoom out limit on your tour, you have to use the Max Zoom option.
When viewers are navigating a scene, they can zoom out to the limit you’ve set up. You can also set this value from 50 to 120.
Suppose, you’ve set the Default Zoom to 100, then you have to set the Max Zoom from 100 to 120.
**Do not set the Max Zoom value lower than the Default Zoom value.
iii. Set Zoom In Limit For The Entire Tour #
To set a zoom in limit on your scene, you have to use the Min Zoom option.
When viewers are navigating a scene, they can zoom in to the limit you’ve set up.
You can also set this value from 50 to 120.
Suppose, you’ve set the Default Zoom to 100, then you have to set the Min Zoom from 50 to 100.
**Do not set the Min Zoom value greater than the Default Zoom value.
**You can set different Min Zoom on each scene of a virtual tour.
That’s it. This is how you can set custom zoom settings on your Entire virtual tour.
Set Custom Zoom Settings For Individual Scenes #
If you’d like more control over how each scene appears, WPVR Pro allows you to set custom zoom preferences for individual scenes.
Steps: #
- Edit your tour and go to the Scenes tab.
- Choose the specific scene you want to customize.
- Scroll down to find the Customize Scene Zoom option.
- Once enabled, you’ll see three settings: Default Zoom, Max Zoom, and Min Zoom—just like the global settings.
Once enabled, you’ll see the same three options available as in the tour-level settings:
- Default Zoom (controls the initial zoom level when this scene loads)
- Max Zoom (limits how far users can zoom out the scene)
- Min Zoom (limits how far users can zoom in)
Each of these follows the same value range and logic as the global tour settings:
- 50 is the most zoomed-in view
- 120 is the most zoomed-out view
- Be sure that the Max Zoom is not set lower than the Default Zoom, and the Min Zoom is not set higher.
This feature is especially useful when different scenes require different zoom perspectives—for example, zooming in on smaller rooms or zooming out for wide outdoor views.
That’s it. Now start exploring these settings and make your virtual tours truly immersive!
