Understanding And Configuring Feed Attributes and Their Values

When you want to generate a WooCommerce feed for your preferred merchant, you need to configure the feed according to your merchant’s requirements.

If you don’t meet their requirements, they won’t accept the feed.

In this doc, I will show you why and how to configure your feed attributes and their values with the Product Feed Manager for WooCommerce plugin.

When you select a merchant from the Merchant Type dropdown list, you will see that all the required attributes are loaded below.

For example, here I’ve selected Google Shopping as the merchant, and you can see the required attributes for Google Shopping:

Google shopping feed

Here, you can see that there’s an attribute column on the left, next are the Type, Value, Prefix, Suffix, Output Sanitization, and Output Limit columns.

When you click on any of the attributes, you will see a list of attributes that you can put in this feed. Just select a new attribute from the list and the newly selected attribute will replace the previous attribute.

If you want to keep the attributes as it is and add a new attribute to the list, you can click on the Add New Attribute button from the bottom of the Feed Configuration Settings. Click on the button and you will get the same attributes list, select any of them and this attribute will be added to your feed.

Custom Attribute

Now whether you are replacing any old attributes or adding a new one, if you generate the feed now by clicking on the Publish button, your feed will be generated with these attributes.

But you haven’t changed the value for your replaced attribute or for your new attribute yet, as a result, for the existing templates, it will show the values that were already configured to your attribute, or for the new attributes it will show an empty result for the concerned attribute.

Now, before set values, you will have to select what kind of value will this attribute contain. For example, it could be either Static Value or Dynamic Value which is the Attribute here.

Once you set the type as Static, you will see that the Value field will be changed into a text box, and if you select Attribute, you will get an attribute list with a dropdown.

Static Value is the fixed value, that will be placed on all the products. For example, if all the products are under the same brand name, then you can simply put your brand name here as the Static Value, and this value will be added to all the products.

Manufacturer

And the Dynamic Value or Attribute is the dynamic value of your products. This value can be different for different products. For example, if you add a new attribute “Price”, set the Type as Attribute, and set the value as Regular Price, when you generate the feed, all of your products will show their Regular Price under the Price attribute.

Now, finally, you need to set the value for your attribute.

As per the previous example, you can see that setting the Regular Price option as the attribute value will put the Regular Price to all of your product’s Price attributes.

Now, what if you want to show the Sale Price for the Price attribute?

In this case, select Sale Price from the Values dropdown, and this value will be added to your concerned products.

Now, set the attributes and set the values to them. You can add a new attribute or a custom attribute by clicking on the Add New Attribute or Add New Custom Attribute button. Also, you can delete an attribute by clicking on the red Delete option at the end of the attribute row.

If you want you can merge multiple attributes into a single attribute. For that, you need to select the attribute type combine attributes. Then you’ll get a drop-down from where you will be able to choose the attributes for adding.

Product Title

Once all the values are set, you can publish the feed, and get all the attributes with proper values according to your needs.
